Ferenc Gróf

Ferenc Gróf has developed an artistic practice focused on ideological footprints at the intersection of graphic design and spatial experiences. He is a founding member of the Parisian co-operative Société Réaliste (2004–2015) whose text-based interventions challenge contemporary political representations and ideologies. As a member of the collective, Ferenc Gróf has created a peculiar toolkit, consisting of linguistic, typographic, statistical and cartographic elements to examine social processes and exhibit correlations between the past and the present. In his individual works, Ferenc Gróf continues with a critical, narrative investigation and implementation of political design. He lives and works in Paris, and has been teaching at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art in Bourges since 2012. His solo and group exhibitions have taken place in, among others, Budapest (the Kiscell Museum, the OFF-Biennále and the New Budapest Gallery), New York (the Hessel Museum and the CCS Bard Galleries), Białystok (Galeria Arsenał), Belgrade (Kulturni Centar Beograda) and the Slovakian National Gallery in Bratislava.
