TANZ

Predstava, slovenska premiera
// v angleščini //

V
predstavi nastopajo ženske
med dvajsetim in osemdesetim letom starosti z različnimi plesnimi izkušnjami. Rigorozni
trening v t.i. silfidičnih študijah, ki so mu podvržene v predstavi TANZ, izprašuje zapuščino plesne tradicije in njeno razmerje do kulta
lepote.

Predstavi sledi pogovor z ustvarjalkami.

TANZ

Performance, Slovenian premiere
// in English //

TANZ is the third part of the trilogy RecoveryApollonTANZ. The trilogy investigates how the body is cultivated, shaped and transformed through the use of different physical disciplines.

TANZ takes early 19th century romantic ballet as a starting point. It uses the frame of a ballet class guided by Beatrice Schönherr, the first ballerina who danced the Sacre de Printemps naked (John Neumeier, 1972).

The cast includes women between the ages of twenty and eighty, all of whom have different backgrounds in dance. In TANZ, they undergo a rigorous training in the so-called sylphidic studies, raising the question of the legacy of dance and its relation to the cult of beauty.

In the performance, sensationalist images from ballet, comedy and pornography emerge as brutal parodies. The gaze regime finds its reflection in the character of a porn producer who documents the performance.

TANZ is a quest for perfection, transforming the gross into the sublime.

Performance contains nudity and stroboscopic effects. In some scenes self-harming acts are portrayed, which could have a disturbing effect on some viewers.
